Corolla Baby Size - Hollyhock Lane Fabric
The Corolla Quilt Pattern is available in the SHOP
Corolla is back again and cuter than ever, thanks to the Hollyhock Lane line from Poppie Cotton. The pastels obviously make for a sugary sweet vibe, but the unexpectedly dark teals and grays set this color palette apart, making the final product unusually vivid instead of somewhat washed out.
I went with the baby size of the Corolla in this case, which is perfect either for a kid, or for a solid lap quilt. I’ve been using this one to keep warm while I work; any bigger and I’d want to curl up and not get a thing done!
Of course, Corolla also comes with instructions for a generous throw size (for when you really do want to curl up and do nothing productive), and a twin/twin XL size (Twin XL is the size of most dorm room beds!).
Love the painterly look of this collection, even the geometric prints have a loose hand feel.
I did my favorite backing flourish: I cut my scraps into rectangles, sewed them into a long strip, and spread it across the back. Doesn’t it look just darling? (It’s also a lifesaver for whenever you’re short on backing fabric!)
The binding is a pink version of the background fabric, with these teeny tiny little dots that add texture and life to the quilt.
I think the quilting goes so perfectly with this quilt, Kaitlyn at Knot and Thread did a wonderful job!
I also had to add one of these cute little labels I found at QuiltCon. (They are from Sarah Hearts).
Corolla is an easy choice for whenever I want to show off the prints I’m using, not to mention it’s probably one of my most versatile patterns. I recommend you give it a try!
If you end up making this, make sure to tag me or let me know! I love seeing your creations!
