Okay, let’s break out those porcelain cups and set our kettles on the stove; Tidy Tiles in the Garden Party collection by Poppie Cotton can’t mean anything other than tea time!

This new pattern is as simple as it looks, like the easiest game of tetris you’ll ever play. I made sure to make it precut friendly, using only squares and rectangles, and with some of the most straight-forward piecing of just about any block you’ll make in your quilting life.

A garden party isn’t far off from what I imagine when I look at this quilt. In my head, it’s not the adults on the patio that this quilt is for, but the children in the yard. I can picture a little girl, spreading this quilt over the grass to keep from getting her dress damp, and playing tea party with her stuffed animals or dolls. Isn’t it just the sweetest image?

Take a closer look so we can enjoy these prints together! Each of these scenes and objects are so carefully thought out, so delicately placed. The pastels make it feel like a spring wonderland.

For the binding I chose this beautiful blue print that frames the quilt in a wonderful way.

And because you know I love all the details, I added a couple of labels that go perfectly with Garden Party.

That said, Tidy Tiles can really take on another life in different colors. Picture it with all solids, or in grayscale. Having such a basic base lets the quilt really use the fabric you pick to dictate its vibe and style. It can just as easily bring forth images of a kid sitting in his room playing with legos or the first blanket you reach for when it’s time to open Christmas presents.

So whether you’re looking for super cute or bright or minimalist, Tidy Tiles adapts. You all know me well enough by now to know that I love having things just so, and this quilt pattern is an expression of that. Sometimes, I just want somewhere to lay out some of my favorite fabrics and let them shine.
