Candy Lane Table Runner

There’s a sloping road I drive to reach my house, and it's surrounded by trees on both sides. It’s pretty spectacular in the Fall, but right now, as Winter reluctantly moves on, there’s a handful of pink flowering trees among the stick-forest. So as color begins to sneak back into the scenery, along with the warmth, I want to share a project with you that perfectly embodies that essence of Spring.

First, the pattern. I went with Candy Lane, a quick and easy table runner that brings memories of playing Candy Land when my kids were still kids. It’s one of the two quick and easy Cut Loose Press patterns I designed for my 4-in-1 Hexie ruler, so it’s an absolute breeze! If you like this, I have some free tutorials and main patterns for full quilts! Just click around my website and you’ll run into them, I promise, or send me a message and I’ll help you find whatever you’re looking for!

Then came the fabric, this super cute and extra cheerful collection titled Mushroom Blooms by Poppie Cotton. The perfect match!

I don’t usually make a border when I’m designing/piecing my quilts, but this pink gave the whole thing such a pop that I think I’m reconsidering! Not to mention, look at how it really helps that minty green binding really stand out!

The prints themselves are so darling! The mushrooms and little mushroom people, the playful colors that seem to be just breaking off from pastel, and tell me all those dots don’t remind you of sprinkles!
Fun fact: we still haven’t finished all the candy we used for the photoshoot. I ended up shipping half of it to my college kid, otherwise known as the blackhole I know and love.

With a swirling quilting to give the feeling of lollipops and more unhealthy treats, the whole thing really came together! It totally makes me want to have a tea party with little scones or a brunch with pink lemonade!

Candy Lane is sold at the Cut Loose Press website. It’s traditionally pieced and uses no Y seams. It’s designed to be an easy intro to hexagons, diamonds and triangles (that is what the ruler is for)! You can get the pattern here and the ruler here or clicking on the picture below.

Thanks for tuning in and, as always, happy quilting!
