Duck and Weave Quilt Pattern - The Pumpkin Farm Version
Alright, at this point it’s no secret that Fall is my favorite season; the colors, the clothes, the chill in the air, the spice in the food: it’s perfect. I’ve got my boots out and scarves ready for the moment the Atlanta heat decides to finally give in.
And of course, Michael Miller came out with a fabric collection called Pumpkin Farm that’s full of all that Autumn goodness.
It’s got scarecrows (the cute kind, not the horror movie kind), it’s got sunflowers, pumpkins, crinkly leaves, patchwork prints; honestly, if there was ever a collection made to become a quilt, it’s this one!
To make sure all of the fabrics were faithfully presented, I went with Duck & Weave, a pattern that’s perfect for showing a mix of larger and smaller prints, even in its baby size which is what I used this time around.
As expected, each strip blended cozily with the next, the pumpkins’ green leaves led into the scarecrows’ green border; the scarecrows’ blue coat pulled in the patchwork print, and so on.
Fall is about new beginnings, and that means leaves drying up and drifting to the ground.
That very action hints to the approaching winter, that’ll be upon us when the trees are bare. These sunflowers though are so bright and cheerful, sturdy and plentiful, not to mention they seem endless. It’s as if they’re determined to thrive in the cold.
Also, honestly, they’re just pretty, so much you’ll want to wear them!
So check out Pumpkin Farm by Michael Miller and Duck & Weave by yours truly. Then, fill your mugs with hot drinks, get that chimney burning, sweaters prepped, and dust your board games off their shelves. It’s time for our quilts to be used. This is what it’s all about.
The pattern comes with directions for three different sizes, so go on and get sewing! Have a wonderful day!
